Overview
I'm Crystal Vandegrift, owner of Crystal Image Photography. We are based in Central Virginia and travel nationwide for weddings. We are also proud to be LGBTQ+ friendly photographers.
I'm married and have one daughter. My daughter Casey is and will always be my best accomplishment in my life! I have entered my 25th year in business this year in 2021, and Casey has become my second shooter. So, I guess you could say we are a mother and daughter team!
I am a huge animal lover! I share my home with five black cats we rescued from local animal shelters, one little blind Bichon dog, and my daughter's lovable black lab, Jaxson. Everyone loves to meet Jaxson, and you might see him traveling with us from time to time. :)
I'm a big-time coffee drinker and sometimes craft beer lover and even bigger lover of expressing art through my love of tattoos. When I'm not shooting weddings, you can find me anywhere near the sand and water; preferably the Caribbean, if I can get there!
My idea of wedding day photography is to provide our couples with a non-intrusive, easy-going, and flexible approach. Our style is natural, unique, and spontaneous, capturing those special moments of your wedding

Not only were her photos amazing, but she is extremely responsive to messages. Very Talented PhotographerI have had the opportunity to work with Crystal twice now - once for my wedding back in 2015 and again for a project this year. Both times she was absolutely fantastic! In fact, my husband and I ended up taking a number of her photos and having them replicated on huge canvasses to hang around our house. Crystal is professional, courteous, communicative, and has the eye of an artist when she's working. No matter the event, skip the risk and hire Crystal. You may just find yourself ordering canvasses. Excellent photographer!

Very Talented PhotographerI have worked with Crystal twice now and both times have been wonderful experiences. The first time was for my wedding back in 2015, and the work she did was so fantastic I couldn't help but get those photos printed on huge, 20" by 30" canvasses for the living room. She really did a standout job. The second time I worked with Crystal was for headshots and posed shots for a project and again she was awesome and I'm very happy with the results. Crystal is professional, artistic, creative, and experienced. With these big important events, skip the risk and hire Crystal. And besides being an expert at what she does, she is a genuine joy and fun to be around. I would absolutely recommend Crystal for your big event!

Wonderful Engagement and Wedding PhotographerWe booked Crystal based on her competitive price and impressive portfolio, and were certainly not disappointed! Crystal met us on a cold winter afternoon for our engagement photos near the Capitol (our fault...oops!), but clearly had an eye for choosing the warmest colors as backdrops, which produced wonderful photos we have proudly hung in our home.. During our wedding she and her daughter did an amazing job capturing the day's activities, including formal photographs with the family, through candid reactions at the reception, and everything in between. Their talents resulted in so many amazing pictures that made it very difficult for us to choose which photos to include in our wedding album! We cannot recommend Crystal enough!!

Beyond wonderfulCrystal and her daughter are a dream to work with! They are extremely professional, talented, fun and, best of all, they love what they do. That’s something that makes every part of the experience that much better. Do yourself a favor and call Crystal Image Photography for your engagement photos and/or wedding photos. You’ll be blown away! (It was so hard to choose what photos to upload they are all so beautiful!)
