My husband and I had the best DJ at our wedding. When I say the best.... I mean THE best. He seriously made our wedding reception absolutely incredible. Everyone danced their hearts out for hours and hours and hours. The reception room was filled with dancing sweaty bodies, bare feet, and so much laughter. Our wedding ceremony after party (a.k.a. - the reception) was without a doubt a night I will remember forever and ever.
I truly believe that a DJ can make or break a wedding reception (no pressure or anything...), so if you’re all about the wedding after party (reception) then it’s really important to find someone that is great at pumping up a crowd and who listens to what you want.
After hearing some DJ horror stories from friends and co- workers, I was so nervous about finding a good DJ. I had no idea where to start.
That being said, I figured I'd share some tips on how to go about choosing a wedding DJ from personal experience. I hope they help! :-)
1. Start with Recommendations from friends. Ask around - I’m sure you know someone who knows of an amazing DJ.
2. If you’ve been to a wedding that had an awesome DJ, get their contact information from your friend.
3. Interview a DJ you’re interested in (in person if possible). You want someone who will work with YOU...who will play music YOU want.
4. Attend an event your potential DJ will be doing his thing at. What better way to see if a DJ is right for you than seeing him in action!
